Gatanga MP Launches KES 370M Mbugiti Irrigation Project to Boost Agriculture
Gatanga Constituency Member of Parliament Edward Muriu has announced the commencement of the Mbugiti Irrigation Project, a significant development aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in the region. The KES 370 million project was officially handed over to the contractor yesterday, marking a crucial step forward for local farmers.
The Mbugiti Irrigation Project is set to benefit approximately 2,500 households across Mbugiti, Karangi, and Kimakia sub-locations. By providing a reliable water supply, the initiative aims to improve food security and stimulate economic growth in Kariara Ward.
MP Muriu emphasized the importance of the project, noting that water management was a key component of his election manifesto. He highlighted his role in advocating for the project, from community organization to securing funding.
The project will be executed under the leadership of Chairman Mr. S.W. Nguchittah, with Engineer Gichane overseeing the technical aspects. Muriu also mentioned other water projects in the pipeline, including the Ragia Water Project, Gatura Karagia, and Gatuiku Community Irrigation Project, as part of his ongoing commitment to addressing water needs in Gatanga Constituency.
