Gavana Wa Raia tournament hits fever pitch as Wards pick teams
Seven teams have secured slots to represent their Wards in the ongoing Gavana Wa Raia finals.
The tournament, an initiative of H.E Governor Wisley Rotich will see the winner bag Sh1 million was played from the village level where teams were eliminated in the preliminaries, a bottoms up approach model.
In the games played today, Kessup FC clinched the rights to represent Tambach Ward after dismissing Setek FC by a solitary goal in an entertaining match played at Kessup Primary School field.
At Yokot Primary, Kapteren FC ammassed 4 points to emerge top to beat Kapkoi and Chesitek. Kapteren will represent Kamariny Ward and are expected to face Kessup Fc and winners from Kapchemutwa and Emsoo Wards to square for Keiyo North Sub County Championship.
In Embobut/Embolot Ward, Masete silenced Kapchebau FC in yet another thrilling game played at Maron to book a slot with Valley Eagles from Endo Ward. The Eagles beat Chesongoch FC by 3 goals to nil,in a game played at Tot Primary, sending a clear warning to rivals from Sambirir and Kapyego who play their games tomorrow. The teams will join Masete and the Eagles to fight for a slot to represent Marakwet East Sub-County.
A goal is all Muskut FC needed at Emsea Grounds to go past Emis FC in Soy North as teams geared up for a honours represent Keiyo South in the next round of Sub County Championship.
Muskut will join Soin FC from Soy South who picked 6 points to top the group that played at Chepsirei Complex. Green Sharks emerged second with 3 points while G-nuts registered no point.
Metkei, Chepkorio, Kaptarakwa and Kabiemit will play tomorrow.
In Marakwet West, Kapcherop Riders raided Kapcherop City who had earlier survived a penalty scare after they were forced into extra time by Kapkutuny FC by two goals to nil.
Kapsowar, Moiben-Kuserwo and Arror Wards will be picking thier representatives tomorrow while finals for Cherangany-Chebororwa are slated for Monday. The Sub County championships will be held on 6th and 7th of August.
The finals will be played on 13th August.
