Govenor Bii Opens Eldoret Ask Show
Governor Jonathan Bii on Thursday presided over the official opening of the 2023 Eldoret ASK Show.
The show has been ongoing since March 1, 2023, and is expected to come to an end on Saturday.
Speaking after visiting various exhibitors that are gracing the show – which is the biggest in the North Rift region, Governor Bii termed it a huge success.
He said the large number of exhibitors at the show is a clear indication that Uasin Gishu County has a huge potential.
“We thank exhibitors in the livestock, farming and various innovations from our institutions of higher learning,” said the County Boss.
“This has been a successful show,” he added.
The Governor further challenged farmers to make use of the new innovations and technologies that they have learnt from the show by venturing into Agri-business.
He also challenged farmers to start preparing the young generation into taking over as early as possible.
“We used to ask our children to work hard to be doctors, pilots and engineers but with the changing dynamics in the agriculture sector, it is time we start telling our children to be farmers in the future,” Governor Bii said.
Agriculture County Executive Edward Sawe on his part urged farmers to embrace Smart Agriculture.
“Climate-smart agriculture helps farmers adapt their farming practices with the goals of Increasing their harvests,” Sawe said.
He further said smart agriculture builds farmers’ resilience in the face of climate-related shocks, reducing their impact on the environment.
County Commissioner Dr Eddyson Nyale, County Assembly Speaker Phillip Muigei, several County Executives and MCAs were also present.
