Government to protect Security Officers Who Use Their Firearms in the Line of Duty
However the Minister warned against abuse and misuse of firearms by security officers saying those found culpable will be dealt with-
Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kithure Kindiki has assured all security officers that the government will stand up for them if they use their weapons to defend the public or defend their lives while on duty.
Speaking in Kesses Sub County,Uasin Gishu County, Kindiki has urged all the security agents including Chiefs to carry out their mandate without fear or intimidation .
“I encourage all the chiefs, the county commissioners, the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission [EACC], and the police officers to carry out their mandate as stipulated by the law without fear, The Government will firmly protect them against any form of Intimidation”He assured.

Kindiki Sympathized with Kaptabei chief in Uasin Gishu who is currently facing criminal charges after he was attacked and his legs broken while conducting a raid on illicit brew.
“I want to assure Kaptabei Chief that we will get to the bottom of the matter and the government will stand by you,Charges against him will be withdrawn” He assured.
Kindiki has urged all security agents to double up their fight against illicit brew and drugs and substance abuse across the Country.
