Governor Barasa Opens The County Assembly’s Second Session
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa on Tuesday officially opened the second session of the Third County Assembly at the Kakamega County Assembly Chambers where he appreciated Legislators for collaborating with the County Executive to address the needs of the residents.
Kakamega Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have so far approved the 2022/23 Financial Year Supplementary Budget, Vetted and Approved County Executives nominees and Approved the motion on equalization Ward Development Fund. They have also approved the 4th and 5th Members of the County Assembly Service Board.
The Governor however implored the Members to ensure the cooperation does not compromise the mandate of either Arm of his government calling on them to provide proper checks and balances on the performance of the Executive and ably represent the electorate on the floor of the House.
The Executive on the other hand, he said, must ensure prudent management of financial resources and implementation of County projects and programmes across the County to the satisfaction of residents.
The County CEO used the opportunity to highlight some of the achievements by his administration thus far, aimed at actualizing his six-point agenda among them; stocking of health facilities with drugs and non-pharms, automation of the County Microfinance Loan Management System for efficiency and effectiveness; already KES. 23.2 Million has been disbursed to 240 traders in the County; completion & commissioning of the 9.2 Km Bushiangala – Eregi – Lusiola Bitumen Road- connecting Kakamega to Vihiga County and acquiring of an integrated e-Revenue collection and management system which will enhance Kakamega’s Own Source Revenue by digitizing both structured and unstructured revenue streams within the County.
