Governor Bii Applauds Residents For their Efforts to Increase Food Production
Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii has applauded its residents for their effort to strengthen the agriculture sector in the county.
Governor Bii says his administration will go the extra mile in supporting the agriculture sector which will help in boosting the food production in the region and the Country at large.
“My administration is actively promoting modern farm techniques, providing necessary resources, and facilitating market access by the completion of the construction of Cheptiret- Kesses road which will ease linking for farmers and traders to the market their produce, “said the Uasin Gishu County Boss.
Bii noted that his government has implemented policies related to agriculture to ensure that farmers benefit from the best animal breeds, better feeds, and food prices of their produce.
He noted that he has completed pending water projects such as Kimuri and Kapchunga Water Projects which help in irrigation and thus increase food production.
The County has completed the construction of five cattle dips and six milk coolers which are now ready for commissioning.
“We have also vaccinated over 55,000 cattle against foot and mouth disease,7500 dogs against rabies and serve over 1500 cows monthly by county subsidized Artificial Insemination services,” said the Uasin Gishu governor.
Governor Bii’s administration has also provided startup capital to cooperative societies in partnership with Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture which helps to determine climatic change in the region.
“Climate change effect can only be controlled by planting trees which will bring rain and also help in the president’s goal which is to plant at least 15 million trees in the Go Green Foundation,” Bii added.
