Governor Bii Delivers On the Promise
As promised under agenda six on improved infrastructure in his Nguzo Kumi Manifesto, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii initiated various road projects across all wards which have so far seen the completion of 800 kilometres of well-maintained roads.
The objective is to improve livelihoods through an enhanced road network to support residents’ transport goods and services.
On Tuesday, a team from the County Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works inspected ongoing and completed road projects in Ngeria and Kapseret wards, Kapseret Sub County in an exercise taking place across the County.
The projects include the ongoing dozing of Koibasui-Ngara Falls road in Ngeria ward, and grading, gravelling and installation of culverts along St.Georges -Komoson road in Kapseret ward, Kapseret Sub County.
While giving their views during the inspection exercise, residents of Ngeria ward led by Samuel Kimeli, Stanley Tuiya and Gladys Chebet said the construction of Koibasui-Ngara Falls road and subsequent completion of a new box culvert in the area will reduce the distance of accessing key social amenities from five Kilometres to 1 Kilometre.
“Accessing the market and schools from Koibasui to Ngara Falls has been a big challenge for us for many years. We want to thank Governor Bii for helping us improve this road,” Mr Kimeli said.
They added that agricultural activities will be boosted in the area and little time will be used for travelling.
The exercise which is ongoing across the entire county for the projects earmarked for the FY 2023/24 is being led by Roads CECM Eng.Joseph Lagat and Chief Officer Eng.Abraham Kiptalam.
