Governor Bii Dismisses Brutality Claims in the Rescue Center
Uasin Gishu county governor, Jonathan Bii has dismissed claims of brutality in the rescue center.
Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebration held at Ainabtich primary, Moiben sub-county, Governor Bii said that the center is safe for the accommodation of street families.
“I have been there and we have talked with the heads of department and they are respected people. I want to assure you that the center is safe and the street urchins are treated with dignity,” said the governor.
This comes after a section of human rights activists termed the rescue center as unfit for the street children.
“After training them we realized many of those street kids have talents which can enable them to fit in the society. Our aim is to ensure that when they come out of the center they don’t go back to the streets but have a constructive thing to do,” noted Bii.
He also urged journalists and Human Rights Activists to visit the center to avoid any misinformation about it.
“Journalists and Human Rights Activists should visit the place and you will be shocked by the development that is going there. There is a Technical Training College, hospital, food, doctors, and teachers among many others,” the governor added.
He has called on well-wishers especially faith-based groups to come out and help take care of the children.
