Governor Bii Expresses Readiness to Host The First Biennial Conference
The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Tuesday played host to officials drawn from the Devolution steering committee with an aim of assessing the readiness to host the first biennial conference.
Led by the chairperson, His Excellency Governor Ahmed Abdulahi, who also doubles up as the vice chair of the Council of Governors-Kenya.The team which comprised Senator Margaret Kamar, Council of Governor’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mary Mwiti and other officials, toured critical sections which included Kipchoge Keino stadium, Eldoret arboretum and the Eldoret Sports club.
Hon. Ahmed Abdulahi lauded the county for their efforts while noting that the county is ready for the upcoming conference.
“Devolution is the take away of the public from the 2010 constitution. This upcoming conference is an event that will give us an opportunity to reflect on the gains that devolved units have made ten years on,” he said.
On his part, Governor Bii said the conference is an eye opener to the region as it will give an opportunity to Counties to also showcase the gains of Devolution.
“This event being hosted by us is timely and we shall work towards making it a success. Many counties will showcase the transformative agenda that has propelled them to be leaders of successful devolved units,” he added.
He was categorical that as a county, they are keen on completion of project such as enhancing infrastructure, street lighting, water provision and beautification of the town in readiness to host more than 8000 delegates.
Senator Margaret Kamar noted that with the technological advancement, participants will be required to register online through the council of Governor’s portal.
