Governor Bii Flags Off 12 Turns of Foodstuffs to Baringo
Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii flagged off 12 tonnes of foodstuffs destined to Baringo County.
He said the foodstuff will help those in need of food in Baringo County.
“The vagaries of drought is still being felt in most parts of the country. This has been occasioned by the poor performance of the much anticipated rains since last year. It is in this regard that I today flagged off 12 tones of foodstuffs destined to our neighboring County of Baringo,” said the Uasin Gishu governor.
Governor Bii said the consignment is set to feed more than 500 households for a month.
“Last December, I distributed food to Turkana County worth Ksh 10 million donated by well wishers. As the patron of Save a Life initiative, i take this opportunity to thank our farmers and all contributors for heeding to President William Samoei Ruto’s clarion call to assist those in need,” he added.
Governor Bii said as one of his mitigating effects of climate he called on Kenyans champion for the restoration of our environment.
Highlighting the effects of climate change being felt all over the globe, the governor echoed the need to plant many trees to revert the effects and save future generations from similar calamities.
“I have talked to your governor here and we have noted the need to plant a lot of trees here because the effects of climate change can be felt adversely here hence the need to plant a lot of trees to be on the safer side,” added Governor Bii.
