Governor Bii Hits at CS Namwamba for Derailing Construction of Kipchoge Stadium
Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii has accused the CS sports and Arts, Ababu Namwamba of derailing the completion of Kipchoge Stadium.
Bii said despite the CS making several visits to the stadium has not been completed.
He wants the stadium ready before hosting the Devolution conference which will be held in August this year.
“Last time I visited Kipchoge stadium with CS Ababu Namwamba and I thought that because of his presence in the Stadium it will fasten the completion process, the other day he was here accompanied by his principal secretary and I thought the stadium will be complete, but I want you to tell us if it will be possible for the stadium to be complete,” Uasin Gishu County boss said.
Bii wanted the CS to give priority to the completion of the stadium and asked if there is a person who have misused the funds to be arrested and charged by law.
“I want CS Namwamba to give us funds for this stadium, we want it completed before August, and if you know a person who is playing with the public money tell us,” Bii added
The governor says that it will be shameful for them to welcome visitors to Kipchoge stadium, which has produced heroes and Champions, and find out that the Stadium is in poor condition.
Cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba a few days ago visited the Kipchoge Stadium and warned the Contractors of jeopardizing the government commitment to finish the stadiums in the stipulated period.
Kipchoge Stadium has been used by Kenyan Athletes and world Champions like Eluid Kipchoge and Faith Kipyegon.
Other stadiums like Bukhungu have already been completed and were used during the Madaraka Day Celebration in Kakamega County.
