Governor Bii Warns Those Criminals Masquerading as Hawkers
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Chelilim Bii has warned criminals masquerading as hawkers who recently disrupted the streets of Eldoret town.
The County boss said the law must be followed to maintain peace and order in the county.
“Recently, you all saw in our Eldoret Municipal Market, criminals causing disruption, beating street families around the facility and they are trying to oppose the county government because they do not want to follow our county laws. Let me tell you, people of Uasin Gishu, the law must be adhered to.” Governor Jonathan Bii.
“In every democratic society, laws of the land must be followed. In my administration, lawlessness cannot be tolerated because we are a progressive County that gives every citizen an opportunity to work and contribute immensely to the developmental agenda,” he added.
Saying there are people against the conferment of Eldoret into a city governor Bii said he will not allow them to tamper with the plans which have already begun to make Eldoret the fifth city after Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nakuru.
“There are many people who time when I have gone to look for good things for the people of Uasin Gishu and use that chance to cause disruptions. When I went to Korea, the agenda was the push to make Eldoret a city at the United Cities and Local Governments meeting where Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o and I were the only representatives from Kenya.” Governor Bii added.
The governor warned those responsible will not hide for long for they will be caught in due time and they must respect the county laws and the people of Uasin Gishu.
“If it was a matter of lawlessness why didn’t I see people stealing vegetables and groceries at the
market? Why target shops and nearby businesses stealing electronics, and generators and even destroying people’s properties? Somebody went to court and it will remain closed till date 25 when the courts can determine the outcome. But till then we must find the people responsible for the unrest witnessed in this town.” Bii said.
