The County Government of Uasin Gishu is keen on enhancing productivity through the promotion of trade and industrialization.

Speaking during the engagement with the Principal Secretary for Industry Mr. Juma Mukhwana, Uasin Governor Jonathan Bii observed that the County has plans for the establishment of industrial zones keen on the production of goods and provision of services.

“Manufacturing sector is currently the next frontier with a proven development model that has continued to offer employment and raise the economic bar and that is there is a need for us to revive the ones that had collapsed,” said Bii

He also noted that with the existing partnership with the national government, the County will promote agro-processing and value-addition centers.

According to PS Mukhwana, the visit to the County signified the beginning of a collaborative effort in the quest for job creation and strengthening of the economy.

“Uasin Gishu County is well placed to promote trade and industry sectors in line with the government’s economic focus” added PS

Those in attendance included Rivatex East Africa Board Chairperson Linus Gitahi, CEO Professor Thomas Kipkurgat, and Trade CECM Eng. Martha Cheruto among others.
