Governor George Natembeya’s Administration to Subsidize Farm Inputs
Trans Nzoia deputy Governor Philomena Kapkori now says governor George Natembeya’s administration is committed to aiding the Agriculture sector through subsidizing farm inputs.
Speaking at the ASK Show in Kitale Kapkori said as the national government is working on how to assist the farmers through the farm inputs subsidy the county government of Trans Nzoia under the leadership of Governor George Natembea has plans to put funds on the subsidy program to boost farmers in the county access affordable farm outputs.
“We will work closely with farmers to ensure we support them in both livestock and crop production by restoring the lost glory,” said Kapkori.
Agriculture cabinet secretary Mithika Lunturi has said the government is committed to creating an adequate environment to boost food production.
Mr. Linturi said the government will ensure the cost of production is reduced for farmers to realize profits.
“The Kenya Kwanza government is committed to improving Agricultural production for food security and for economic empowerment of farmers,” he spoke.
Mr. Linturi said he will work closely with county governments to address challenges that have been ailing the sector which is the backbone of the economy.
“I endeavor to work closely with each governor towards improving returns from the Agricultural sector,” he said.
The C.S also noted that land fragmentation accounts for diminishing Agricultural returns in the country saying there is a need for the establishment of a framework.
The Kenya prisons emerged as the best exhibitor in the Farm and dairy category, Moi University emerged best in embracing telecommunications, and the Kenya Seed company won the best seed stand among others.
