Governor Khaemba highlights 10 years achievements in last general meeting with staff
Governor Patrick Khaemba on Monday held a general meeting with the county government staff drawn from across the 25 county wards, a forum he used to highlight achievements of his 10 years reign at the helm of the county administration.
In his address at the Kitale town hall, the county’s headquarters, Khaemba thanked members of his staff for aiding him achieve his pledges to the county residents noting that he had accomplished at least 80 percent of the promises he made.
He pointed out that even with the hurdles experienced in implementing most of the projects, his goal to make the county a better place for the residents persisted and hence he stuck to his motives despite the challenges.
The county chief cited construction of the Trans Nzoia county teaching and referral hospital as one of the mega projects that was fiercely challenged by his political detractors adding that he had been bold enough to achieve the quest.
“The referral hospital is a facility that will serve many people for over 100 years to come and I am really proud of it even though my political nemesis have been fighting me over the same,” said Khaemba.
Disclosing that the facility will open doors of its outpatient wing to the general public before he quits office on August 9, Khaemba called on the general public to make full utilization of the hospital.
Further, he disclosed, the five-storied Kitale Bus Park market that has been under construction will open its doors to the public before August 9.
At the modern Kitale Bus Park, the only one of its kind in the whole country, Khaemba is set to unveil a statue of the late Masinde Muliro whose role shaped the political landscape of the region.
From issuance of title deeds to land owners, soil sampling to check and correct acidity levels, rehabilitation of county roads to improving the health sector, Khaemba said he will be walking out of the job shoulder high.
His speech came shortly after the deputy governor Dr. Stanley Kenei’s address to the staff which also saw him thank the electorates for the 10 years conteract to serve them.
Also present were County Secretary Sifuna Wakofula, County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers as well as county department directors.
