Governor Khaemba unveils Maasinde Muliro Statue

Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba on Tuesday unveiled the statue of political icon and revered Luhya community leader the late Masinde Muliro at the Kitale Bus Park.The late Muliro was a fierce fighter for multi-party democracy and a profound community leader who gave direction to his people on the political path to follow.

Khaemba who was flanked by a section of Luhya leaders from the western region among them former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo hailed the late Muliro for his endeavoured quest for the country’s liberation.His sentiments were echoed by Patrick Wangamati, father to Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati and who also served as the Mayor for Webuye municipality in the 1980s.

The leaders described the late Muliro as an exceptional leader of his time noting that the statue was erected “in memory of his outstanding contribution to Kenya’s constitution and subsequent positioning the country towards land ownership for prosperity and dignity.”

On his part Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Dr Stanley Kenei Tarus termed the late Muliro as a principled leader in matters of clean politics,urging the current and future political leaders not only in the western region but the country to emulate and embrace Masinde’s ways of politics.

The family members of the late Masinde Muliro,various political leaders,administrators and residents of the county met today to speak about the life and times of the hero who spent his life fighting for an equitable,enlightened and free Kenya.
