Following the ravages of the storm water from the ongoing heavy rains, Governor Susan Kihika has instructed various departments to come together to offer lasting solutions to the perennial drainage failure in some areas.

The CECM for Infrastructure Eng Michael Kamau has today toured various areas in Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West constituencies to assess the damage brought by the floods this weekend to help him map out the affected areas and craft lasting solutions in partnership with the other relevant departments.

Some of the areas visited by the CECM include Kanyon in Biashara ward, Mbugua and Mbugua in Rhoda ward, and Nyumba Nyeusi still in Rhoda ward. The CEC also visited Pondamali.

In London Ward, the CEC and his team visited Siaya Road, Argwings Kodhek Road, Hilton, and Bangladesh. Some of the causes identified for ineffective drainage include human activities like dumping, smaller capacity, and blockages. Immediate action will be taken to find short-term and long-term solutions.

The CEC also toured some ongoing drainage rehabilitation projects.
