Governor Natembeya’s Government to Offer Milk to ECDE Pupils
All Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) pupils from public schools in Trans Nzoia will commence receiving milk from January,Governor George Natembeya has pledged.
The governor stated that his administration has allocated funds for this program in this year’s budget,which he emphasized that it aims to serve as a catalyst for increased enrollment.
Addressing a gathering at Township Primary School in Kitale during a Jamhuri Day celebration on Tuesday, Natembeya expressed his administration’s commitment to addressing challenges in institutions under the county government.
He reassured parents whose children sat for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) that his administration will sponsor all Form One students joining day schools in the area.
“My administration has allocated sh.150 Million this year in a scholarship program under the bursary that we launched in the last financial year. We want to improve education standards in our county,” said the Governor.
Governor Natembeya also pledged to eradicate street children from Kitale town, cautioning against individuals who give money to street children, as it often encourages them to remain on the streets.
“We are going to clean the streets of our Trans Nzoia towns, especially Kitale town. We must make hard decisions sometimes to set things straight,” added Natembeya.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to commence payments for Community Health Promoters to enhance health standards.
The governor warned against health workers colluding with private individuals to steal drugs from public hospitals, stating that their days are numbered.
Accompanying the governor were Agriculture CECM Phanice Khatundi, Health counterpart Pepela Wanjala, Jackson Amboka (Roads), Samson Ojwang (Environment), and County Secretary Truphosa Amere.
