Governor Rotich Appoints Economic Think Tank to Drive Development in Elgeyo Marakwet County

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering economic development and fostering growth, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor H.E. Wisley Rotich has appointed a team of distinguished individuals to form the county’s Budget and Economic Forum. Among the notable appointments is former President Mwai Kibaki’s aide, Prof. Nick Wanjohi, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

The economic think tank, tasked with providing insightful guidance on fiscal matters and economic strategies, also includes prominent figures such as Julius Kipng’etich, Group CEO of Jubilee Holdings Limited, and Timothy Kipchumba Biwott, a seasoned banker. These appointments underscore Governor Rotich’s commitment to assembling a diverse team of professionals capable of steering the county towards prosperity.

Prof. Wanjohi, known for his role as the private secretary and economic advisor to the late President Kibaki, is expected to leverage his extensive background in economics and public policy to contribute to the forum’s objectives. Additionally, his previous tenure as the Vice Chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) further strengthens his credentials in driving socio-economic progress.

Dr. Alex Kibet has also been appointed to represent the youth in the forum, reflecting Governor Rotich’s recognition of the importance of inclusive representation. Dr. Philomena Jepkemboi Tanui and Magdaline Kiyeng have been appointed to represent women and civil society groups, further ensuring diverse perspectives in the decision-making process.
