Governor Rotich Urges Residents to Venture into High Value Crops

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has reiterated his call to residents to venture into high value crops which include pyrethrum,tea, avocados ,potatoes, coffee, cotton, groundnuts and sorghum.

He said the crops were guaranteed to turn around the County economy.

Making the clarion call today during the homecoming ceremony of Soy North Member of County Assembly Simon Chepseba, the Governor asked residents of Kerio Valley to grow sorghum this season.

“We already have an arrangement with East African Breweries Limited who will provide seeds and market for the produce,” he said.

The Governor also condemned the killing of two people in Kerio Valley today and called on the Government to unleash it’s full force in the ongoing operation to contain bandits in Kerio Valley.
