County Integrated Development Plan CIDP, Third Version 2023-2027

HE. Governor Wesley Rotich today presided over series of Public Participation forums where he rallied Wananchi to adopt development projects that will result into quick economic interventions.

Public Participation is a legal process where Wananchi are required to give their input in formulating budget proposals in order of their needs and priorities.

The Citizen engagement meetings took place in Kabiemit, Metkei and Soy South Electoral Wards where the Governor and his Deputy Prof Grace Cheserek alongside a host of County officials were in attendance.

Speaking at Kabiemit Ward office Resource Centre, Governor Rotich gave his views detailing workable solutions that if adopted could be a game changer in the economic transformation in the near future.

“I want us to adopt a proposal that will add value to our lives and eradicate poverty. I speak to you like an economist and I challenge you to believe in me and see the results,” said the Governor.

He said:”This is what I exactly promised to do during the campaigns and by the Grace of God we are here today. Let’s set our priority plans and leave the implementation part to me,” said Rotich.

The governor for example urged the locals to consider proposal to purchase a Motor grader machine that will be stationed in HZ Centre in Keiyo South instead of budgeting for Murrum that is often washed away by rains.

The County Chief called on the residents to adopt his manifesto regarding the planned airlifting of young people earmarked for full or partial scholarships abroad.

This, he said will go along way in addressing youth unemployment.

Consequently, Wananchi bought the Governor’s idea and adopted proposals in the County Development Plan CIDP |||, 2023-2027.

Some of the proposals included_ Afya Bora program which propose to equip at least one model health centre in every Electoral Ward , Jenga Wamama na kuku initiative, Wezesha vijana program among others.

The governor said should Wananchi adopt his proposals to embrace cash crop farming, the move will ultimately eradicate poverty in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

He said:”We have been forced to resort to fundraising every time our people are got up by problems. Some of our people are in abject poverty and it is about time we devise ways of circumventing through poverty dragnet”.
