Hon Karani Led Members Services Committee Tours Constituency Offices in Machakos

The Parliamentary Committee on Members Services and Facilities commenced visits to Constituency offices in Machakos County today.

The Committee chaired by Hon. Dr Karani Wachira are in Machakos County on a fact finding visit to Constituency offices in the area to get first hand information on the offices’ operations and challenges faced by staff hired by MPs.

“I am leading Members in touring Constituency offices in Machakos County so as to engage with managers and staff on their work and find out challenges that hinder effectively service delivery as well as look at areas where we can improve,” said Hon Karani.

The Laikipia West MP said the visits help the Committee to compile a report that will be tabled in Parliament that proposes measures aimed at improving status of the offices and staff welfare.

Today the Committee Members visited Machakos and Mavoko Constituency offices and that of Machakos County MP.

At the Machakos Constituency office they were received by the host and area MP Hon. Caleb Mule who highlighted that the visit was necessary as it gave them an opportunity to understand how the offices operate.

“I am impressed that you have managed to visit my office to listen to the staff so as to understand how we work. This is a move in the right direction,” said Hon. Mule.

The Chairperson pointed out that the Committee plans to visit as many offices as possible spread across the country.
