How many good relationships didn’t get anywhere just because people thought it’s okay to ignore each other when they’re hurt instead of opening up and resolving issues? Your ego and your love for self pity can cost you the best relationships in this life if you don’t learn to tame them soon enough.

You don’t need to control your partner but punishing then until they apologise, you need to control yourself and your anger. Allow for a climate of reconciliation and you’ll have set a tone for them to resolve issues sooner when it’s them who are hurt. Do not keep score of wrongs, rather establish a culture of forgiveness and understanding.

May be you learnt this trait growing up but how you fought with your siblings when they hurt you cannot be the same way you fight with your partner. With your siblings there may have been rivalry and competition, but with your partner there’s only love and friendship, and a future to build.
