How Uasin Gishu Residents Celebrated World Tourism Day
The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, Tourism and Wildlife Management on Tuesday joined the rest of the world in marking World Tourism Day 2022 by having a nature walk along River Sosiani to do birdwatching. This is following this year’s theme – Rethinking tourism.
Alongside other partners such as NEMA, KFS and MTRH, the county is set to improve and protect the nature park.
This will be done by planting different indigenous trees along the river, having a clean-up of the river and creating awareness of the importance of keeping the park clean. The nature park will consist of a wildlife park, a nature walk along the river and a park.
According to Director Tourism, Margaret Aiyabei, the County has outlined various strategies to improve and promote domestic tourism including the finishing and launch of the Kesses dam, litigation of pollution in the various tourist sites in the county, production of promotional materials for tourism and many more. The department later toured the Eldoret arboretum which is one of the green spaces created by the county.
