President William Ruto now says that the Inter-Governmental Authority and Development(IGAD) is scheduled to meet with the Sudan generals following the ongoing crisis in that country.

This action is aimed at restoring peace and political stability in Sudan through the suppression of the ongoing war.

“We will speak to them directly on behalf of IGAD with the view of stopping the war that is raging in Sudan and ceasing all manners of hostility,” added Ruto.

Dr. Ruto has stated that through the commitment of Sudan to IGAD, a lot of destructions resulting from war will be prevented and lives will be saved.

“A commitment from them will help so that we can save the lives of people, infrastructure that is being destructed at the moment, and all the other destructions that are going on in Sudan,” said Ruto.

Ruto added that the involvement of IGAD in Sudan’s ongoing war will pave the way for the provision of humanitarian support to the people in dire need especially the children and the women.

The ongoing battle in Sudan has been brought about by the rivalry between the forces of two generals; the Sudanese Armed Forces of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces of General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.

This political unrest has led to devastating effects among them leaving hundreds dead, thousands injured and hundreds of thousand have been displaced according to the reports from the United Nations.
