ITS COMING HOME, BUSIA DEPUTY GOVERNOR ASSURES MARACHI COMMUNITY OF HIS GOVERNORSHIP BID

Busia Deputy Governor H.E Moses Mulomi’s gubernatorial bid has received a boost after Marachi Council of Elders on Sunday endorsed his move to succeed Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong.

In a ceremony held at Busia Polytechnic, DG Mulomi alongside his running mate Tom Ipomai (CPA) affiliated to Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) were coroneted with traditional regalia including a spear, a cap, shield and knives to officially kick start their ‘hunt’ for County’s top seat.

Council’s chairperson Mzee Yonah Weunda who initiated the coronation alongside his counterparts from Teso region led by Mzee John Onyir urged Butula residents to rally behind the two leaders and ensure they emerge victorious.

“Charity begins at home. We as elders have blessed these two as the best to lead the County Government of Busia. They are ready to hunt and deliver the biggest political price in Busia,” posed Weunda, who exuded confidence the duo will carry the day in the August 9,2022 General Election.

He further urged the community to maintain peace during the electioneering period and ensure that there is conducive environment on voting day.

The DG thanked the elders for believing in them and promised to deliver the seat come forthcoming polls.

He said the end to community’s hunger for governorship is a stone throw away and thus should not squander the chance.

“As Butula residents we have served for two terms as deputies and now we have all the experience needed to lead. My main competitor has no track record in the region but is running up down promising heavens. Let him first show the electorate what he has in store for Busia County residends, ” he challenged.

He urged Busia electorates to give them a chance to deliver on their promises including better roads, improved health services, extended water distribution and agricultural extension services.

Mr Ipomai urged candidates and members of DAP-K led by DG Mulomi to continue supporting the party which he claimed remains popular in the region.

“Politics is all about interest and numbers. Let us remain united,” he said adding that they have mounted strategies ensure they inheit H E Ojaamong as the second Governor of Busia County.

The three constituencies have combined votes tally of 198,578 of gazetted 416,318 votes in the county.

Teso South leads with 71,318, Matayos (67,708), Butula (67,377), Teso North (59,883), Funyula (54,031), Nambale (50,545) and Budalangi (46,032).

Mr Ipomai added that their competitors have run short of ideas and have resorted to issuing threats to the community including issuing threats of sacking county staff once they assume office.

“Busia is a cosmopolitan county bringing together different communities and we will not allow few individuals to distort this very peaceful social fabric. We say no to divisive politics.”

DAP-K National Treasurer Beatrice Mbingi who represented Party Leader Wafula Wamunyinyi assured Busian residents that H E Mulomi’s ticket is intact brushing aside wide spread fears of zoning within Azimio-Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The event was graced by other DAP-K candidates in the County led by former Busia County Government Chief Officer for Health Dr Isaac Omeri now gunning for Nambale MP seat, Lawi Mamai (Teso North), Nobert Wangalwa (Butula), Evelyn Ikwii (Busia Woman Representative ), EDWA officials among others.
