Jenga Mkenya Movement Condemns Attack, Looting and Destruction of Property
The Party leader Jenga Mkenya Movement Reuben Kigame condemns the arbitrary attack, looting and destruction of property at Northlands and East African Spector.
Kigame said property of every Kenyan must be protected regardless of ownership.
“ We also strongly condemn the repeated attacks on journalists who have borne the brunt of brute attacks in the course of providing information for the people of Kenya and insist that we should jealously guard our hard-earned media freedom,” said Kigame.
He said they condemn such acts and strongly believes in Utu.
“I unequivocally condemn all forms of violence, and I call upon the government to take swift action to bring those responsible to justice. It is crucial that we do not shift blame onto protestors, but instead, the DCI should conduct a thorough investigation and bring all culprits to book immediately. We must remember that our constitution guarantees the right to life and security for all citizens, and it is our collective responsibility to work together to ensure that these rights are protected,” the Jenga Mkenya Movement party leader said.
He says he is disconcontended to hear reports of delays and excuses by the police in responding to calls from aggrieved citizens.
“This goes against our constitution, which guarantees that every person has the right (Haki) to prompt and efficient protection by the security forces. The police must never take sides but instead adhere to their oath of service. As citizens, it is our duty to hold our government accountable to ensure that the police are adequately equipped and trained in handling matters of demonstrations, which is a constitutional right. We must take swift action against any officers who fail to perform their duties,” he added.
He noted that the recent fires that destroyed homes and businesses have left many families without shelter or a means of livelihood.
“As a community of well-wishers and people of goodwill, we must come together to support these families in every way we can. Our constitution recognizes the right of every person to social security, including social assistance for those in need. It is our responsibility as leaders to ensure that every citizen can access these rights,” Kigame said.
He said the rising cost of living is a major concern for many citizens, It is our duty to address this issue.
“Our constitution guarantees every person the right to accessible and adequate housing, food, and healthcare. I once again reiterate our position as Jenga Mkenya and we ask Parliament to stop every other business when members convene on Tuesday and prioritize discussions on lowering the cost of living and peace in our beloved country,” he noted.
Kigame further said that political parties and independent candidates should come together for discussions on the state of our nation.
“Our constitution recognizes the right of every person to participate in the governance of our country. It is not enough for just Raila and Ruto to be engaged in discussions (through street chaos) for Kenya is bigger and greater than them! Instead, We need to work together to find solutions to the challenges facing our country. The power to change our nation lies within us, and we must use our voices and our votes to make a difference,” he said.
“I urge all of us to stay vigilant, to hold our leaders accountable, and to work together to build a better Kenya. Let us remember the principles enshrined in our constitution and use them as a guide to create a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come,” he added.
