Jesca Jepkosgei Kiplagat Declares Interest For Elgeyo Marakwet Senatorial Seat

Jesca Jepkosgei Kiplagat has declared her interest in the Elgeyo Marakwet EMC Senatorial seat.

This comes after President William Ruto appointed Elgeyo Marakwet senator as Cabinet secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works.
The 25 years old graduate from Kenyatta University says she is ready to serve the interest of his people.

The London School of Economic and Political Science MSc in Development Management graduate is an enthusiast whose journey can only be described as that of determination and resilience.

“I am a beneficiary of the Program for African Leadership Foundation which gave me a full scholarship to pursue Masters at LSE. Having worked in several private, government, NGOs, and INGOs, I believe that I am the right lady for the job,” said Jesca Jepkosgei Kiplagat.


The Elgeyo Marakwet senatorial aspirant has a clear track record of leadership.

“I have crowned the face of Kenya UK, 2014 to represent Kenya in UK Mentorship program. I have mentored many including girls in Kapyego area under IRIIP GAA initiative, Pupils at Dira primary school in Tiaty, Cheptenye Secondary School, Girl empowerment and Education,” she added.

She also distributed Sanitary pads at Dira Primary school, Girls within Kapyego, Kapedo secondary school

She has also been involved in Charity work which includes Supporting Kapchesewes children’s home and Mindililwo Children’s home and also distributing books and uniforms at Kapchesewes children’s home and Dira primary schools.

“I have also paid fees for several high school students,” she said.
She also KDF’s historic bill that was passed by parliament.
“This bill saw many KDF families benefit from it. Championed the KDF widow’s rights in Kenya
She says that once elected she will ensure the needs and interests of EMC people are addressed

“ I, therefore, commit to Represent the interest of the people of EMC, Identify and lobby for more job opportunities for the people of EMC, and Work with CS Murkomen in conversations leading to tarmacking of major roads in EMC,” she says.
Kiplagat further said she will help in job creation amongst the youth.

“To create more jobs I will lobby for the revival of Fluorspar company, to increase food security, lobby for the completion of the stalled Arror-Kimwarer dam,” she said
On legislation, she says she will legislate and mobilizer more resources to the county.

“I will also participate in aligning the county interests in the national legislative agenda, I will sponsor a bill for bandits to be referred as such and dealt with as terrorists,” he said.

“ EMC is the home of champions and sports tourism can earn the county revenue. I will sponsor a bill on the same, I will Oversee the satisfactory usage of county resources and promote public participation in the use of county resources If elected, I promise to serve the people of EMC equally,” she noted.
