Join Groups to Prosper, Sengwer Ward Youth urged

Youths in sengwer ward have been urged to come together and form organized groups in order to benefit from the County Government’s Wezesha Vijana Program.

Wezesha Vijana, which is Governor Wisley Rotich’s flagship program, is geared towards addressing unemployment and providing linkages to youths in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

According to Purity Koima, CECM sports, youth and gender urged youths to grasp this opportunities available for each to progess in life.

She further urged them to venture in Kilimo biashara and utilize available subsidized programs in the county.

“We have so many opportunities for youth, let’s all come together and ensure we utilize programs available,” she said.

Purity Kiptoo, a County Youth Officer, reaffirmed the county commitment in finding alternative sources of livelihood for youths in Elgeyo Marakwet.

“We are focused in urging our youths to atleast venture in any county program the it’s being run by county leadership,” she said.

Risper kigen, another County official, urged youths to shun from drug abuse as it’s a contributing factor to poverty and depression.

“The County government has good plans for all youths and we are committed to combat the drug abuse manace which has seen many youths subjected to poverty.

She further added: “We have legislation that will see county leadership regulate bars and inns and consumption of illicit liquor in all towns and centres in Elgeyo Marakwet county”.

County Vocational Education Director, Sammy kipchumba said that the various County programs had opened doors of opportunities even internationally.

“We want to see at least 2 people from a village benefit from the programs by the end of 5 year tenure.
