Kakamega County Government Commences Registration of Farmers
The County Government of Kakamega through the Departments of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives in collaboration with the National Government through the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) will today, 8th September 2023, commence registration of farmers to guide during budgeting and planning process.
During the exercise that will last three weeks, farmers will provide information about their identity, total land acreage, their enterprises, farm technologies they use, land and water management practices as well as the financial and extension services accessible to them.
Speaking during a tour of of the data collectors (enumerators) training centres in all the Sub-Counties, the in-charge CECM Mr Benjamin Andama said the initiative is key in planning for all government projects and programmes such as farm inputs and reminded the data collectors to provide accurate information regarding the profile of farmers.
Mr Andama further asked residents to be receptive and supportive to the enumerators to ensure the exercise runs smoothly within the agreed timeframe. He noted that the exercise is in line with Governor Fernandes Barasa’s agenda on ensuring the County is food secure.
A total of 825 young people were recruited across the County to undertake the data collection exercise.
