KAKAMEGA SHINES IN THE 7TH ANNUAL DEVOLUTION CONFERENCE

Kakamega County finished position two behind Nakuru County in the just concluded 7th and Final Annual Devolution Conference held at Makueni Boys in Wote, Makueni County.

The County’s magnificent booth set up and exhibitions stood out earning accolades from peers and development partners during the three day event that brought together all the 47 counties and other key stakeholders among them the National Government.

Receiving the award on the final day, Kakamega Governor H.E DR. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya congratulated his staff for the effort put in and extended the same to Makueni County for hosting a successful event.

The conference themed ”Multi-level Governance for Climate Action” and Sub-theme; “Sub-National Mobilization in Unlocking the Full Potential of Climate Action During and After the Pandemic” made several resolutions among them;

-Both levels shall in the spirit of cooperation, coordination, consultation and collaboration , design and implement practical policies, strategies, laws, regulations and action plans to address climate change,
-Both levels of governments shall increase resource allocation towards mitigation and adaptation strategies to enhance County governments preparedness and response towards impacts of climate change and pandemics and;
-Counties to enact climate change related Acts/Policies/Regulations to provide legal frameworks for rolling out climate change related programs and projects.

The high level conference was officially closed by Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Eugene Wamalwa. Council of Governors (CoG) Chairman Hon. Martin Wambora was also present.
