Kenya Airways Faces Service Disruptions Due to Maintenance Issues
By Ouma Delmartin
Kenya Airways is currently experiencing significant disruptions to its flight services, as confirmed by CEO Allan Kilavuka in a press statement released on September 26, 2024. The airline has attributed these delays to a combination of scheduled maintenance, unscheduled engine overhauls, and unforeseen supply chain constraints.
In the statement, Kilavuka noted that the maintenance of the fuel hydrants at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport extended beyond the planned duration, leading to the grounding of two 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This situation has particularly affected morning flight departures, resulting in delays for numerous passengers.
“Most of our morning flights have since departed, and our dedicated teams are working tirelessly to recover our departure and arrival schedules by midday today,” Kilavuka assured. He emphasized that efforts are being made to resolve the situation promptly and expressed gratitude for the understanding and patience shown by customers during this challenging time.
Kenya Airways has apologized for the inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to providing excellent service. The airline expressed appreciation for the continued support from its customers and is hopeful for a swift return to normal operations.
