Kenya School of TVET Advances CBET Programs with Massive Lecturer Training Initiative
Dr. Edwin Tarno, PhD, HSC, CEO of the Kenya School of TVET, proudly emphasized the institution’s strides in advancing Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) programs during the closing ceremony of the 13th Annual International Conference. He highlighted that the school has successfully trained 7,000 lecturers so far, with plans to train an additional 2,500 in the next phase.
“To support the expansion of CBET programs, the Kenya School of TVET has successfully led the training of trainers. This initiative ensures that we continue to address the skills gap in the market,” Dr. Tarno remarked.
As the conference concluded, Dr. Tarno underscored the importance of CBET in shaping the future of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and contributing to Kenya’s national development goals. He praised the progress made, noting the critical role that well-trained lecturers play in delivering competency-based education aligned with the country’s economic needs.
In a related address, Dr. Cicilia Rollence from The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Tanzania added, “Tapping into opportunities is crucial, and aligning our research efforts with real-world needs is the key to driving impactful change. By bridging the gap between innovations and solutions, we can turn groundbreaking ideas into tangible outcomes that address pressing global challenges.”
