Linsey Zawadi, a 22-year-old trailblazer from Embu, is making headlines not only for her beauty but also for her unwavering commitment to education and social change. As Miss Intercontinental Kenya, Zawadi has taken her platform seriously, using it to advocate for a cause that is close to her heart: access to quality education for all.

Born and raised in a household where education was seen as a luxury, Zawadi knows firsthand the challenges of limited educational opportunities. Raised by her grandmother and supported by her community, she was fortunate to receive an education despite the financial constraints faced by her family. This experience has fueled her passion to ensure that more children, especially in underprivileged communities, have access to the transformative power of education.

Against the odds, Zawadi is now poised to graduate from the University of Eldoret on November 21, 2024, with a Bachelor of Education in Education Science. The milestone is a culmination of years of hard work and resilience, and she is determined to give back to her community by empowering the next generation of learners.

“Education is the most powerful tool to change lives, and I want to be a part of that change,” says Zawadi, who plans to use her platform to inspire young boys and girls in her community to pursue their dreams. “I hope to be a ‘gift’ in my society, and live up to the meaning of my name, ‘Zawadi,’ which means ‘gift’ in Swahili.”

In addition to her advocacy work, Zawadi has a diverse range of interests. She is a talented dancer, singer, and an avid reader of novels and documentaries. As a teacher of Biology and Chemistry, she already has the opportunity to inspire and mentor her students, encouraging them to excel in their studies and reach their full potential.

Zawadi’s journey into pageantry began after she won a local competition, which opened her eyes to the greater purpose of beauty beyond the runway. She quickly realized that beauty is not just about appearances but about using one’s platform to inspire, educate, and create positive change.

As she prepares for the Miss Intercontinental competition, Zawadi is excited to share her story with the world and continue advocating for education. “The power of beauty lies in making a difference and being the change we need,” she says.

Linsey Zawadi’s story is one of resilience, hope, and the relentless pursuit of making a meaningful impact. With her graduation on the horizon and her passion for education guiding her path, she is determined to inspire countless others to believe in the power of education and the potential within themselves.
