KMPDU Boss Want National and County Government to Enrol Kenyans on NHIF
The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah has called on both the National and County government to enroll more Kenyans in NHIF.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town the KMPDU boss said this will lower the cost of health care in the Country and ensure that every Kenyan access quality Health care.
“I want to call upon both the National and County government to ensure that they enroll Kenyans on NHIF, this will lower the cost of health care and ensure that they get quality health care at any Health facility in the Country,” said Atellah.
He said the government needs to change the normalization of the health care budget from recurrent expenditure to an aspect of investment because when you have a healthy population the economy will definitely grow.
The KMPDU boss that NHIF should be strengthened in a way that each member of the society is in possession of the card and is able to get services to prevent them from selling land in order to pay their hospital bills.
“If NHIF can be improved to ensure that it covers exclusively as necessary, then our leaders should prioritize to see where MCA’s, MPs, and Governors to ensure that every family has a social protection for them to get quality health service,” he added.
He said the government should employ specialties which include doctors for Universal Health care to benefit Kenyans.
“Universal Health care will become effective if we invest in the human resource since even if you have the best hospital without human resources is useless,” The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General said.
