Kokwet- Koilel CBO Donates and Save a Life Initiative Food Stuff to Baringo Residents
With the effects of the ravaging drought and hunger still being felt in some parts of the country, Kokwet- Koilel Community Based Organization in collaboration with Uasin Gishu County Save a Life Initiative has teamed up to show support to those still affected by drought in the neighboring Baringo Counties.
“We have been collecting foodstuff and in like donations from businessmen, farmers, and other stakeholders. These proceedings will be taken to those counties affected by drought and hunger. Today we had this CBO, Kokwet – Koilel CBO.” Said Willy Kenei Chairman of Uasin Gishu County Save a Life Initiative.
This flagship comes after a similar consignment after the disbursement of close to 65 tonnes of assorted feeds was dispatched to Turkana County and the organizers are promising to deliver even more of the collected items.
“This group has brought us close to 500 bales of maize that will aid up to 700 families in one month. Today we are here under the advice of Kenya Red Cross who we are collaborating with to flag off these foods to Baringo County after dispatching 65 tonnes of maize to Turkana County last month,” added Kenei.
A rallying call has been issued to well-wishers, donors, and other like-minded Kenyans of goodwill to come together and help other Kenyans in fighting hunger.
“There are a lot of foodstuffs that we are set to receive, there are close to 1000 bags that are being prepared for the flag off and the public has said that we consider Uasin Gishu County too as there are many people who are not capable of feeding themselves too. I call upon churches, farmers, business people, and various stakeholders to continue bringing what they have to offer for it will go far in helping the needy in the society,” concluded Kenei.
