KYISA Selection Kicks Off In Kakamega
The selection process of youths who will represent Kakamega County in this year’s edition of the Kenya Youth Inter-counties Sports Association (KYISA) games in Soccer and Volleyball disciplines has commenced.
Today, Saturday, Officers from the Directorate of Sports and Youth led by the Chief Officer for Sports, Youth and Library Services Mr. Joseph Abucheri pitched camp at Maturu grounds in Lugari where youth drawn from Malava, Lugari and Likuyani Sub-Counties attended and were given an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents with the intention of catching the keen eye of selectors.
The exercise which not only attracted players but also trainers and referees from the Northern region of the County is aimed at guaranteeing selection of quality players to participate and represent Kakamega County in the KYISA games slated for 23rd – 29th April 2023 in Tharaka Nithi County.
Similar exercise for the Central and Southern regions will take place on 4th and 11th March 2023 at Kakamega School/Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and Mumias Sports Complex respectively where talented young people aged between 18-23 years are requested to show up.
The selection process in the respective regions and ultimate participation in the National event is in line with Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Social Development pillar on developing grassroot talents and facilitating suitable events to showcase and open external opportunities for Kakamega County’s sports men and women.
