Lusaka Warms Mt Elgon Unveils Legacy Goodies
Governor Kenneth Lusaka has unveiled several development goodies for Mt .Elgon residents.
Speaking in Kaberwa while launching the rehabilitation of the Kibuk- Chepkitale road, Lusaka lined up several projects for the region.
He said the area residents should not feel marginalized because it was their right to get development.
“It is unfortunate that the last government neglected you, just like any Kenyan you have every right to get government services,” Said Lusaka .
Lusaka committed to allocate more money in the next financial year to ensure the road is brought to Standard even as he continuous to engage with national Government to see them tarmac the road.
“I am already in talks with the president to see if the national government can come in and help us tarmack this road,” Said lusaka
The Governor also announced that his ministry of trade will erect street lighting in major markets in the region and ensure that they are beneficiaries of the KOICA 3 water project which will see most residents get piped water .
“The project had stopped because of some issues which have since been sorted and I can assure you that we will ensure Mt.Elgon residents are beneficiaries,” Said Lusaka .
The governor further assured residents that he was in talks with the ministry of agriculture at the national level to have a tea factory in the region.
“When the cabinet secretary visited, he set some conditions that were being adhered to, very soon we will have a tea factory,” Said Lusaka.
The governor also promised to expand the Chemonge high altitude center.
“This is a project I personally started with a view of promoting talents, I now want to expand it,” Said lusaka.
Bungoma deputy governor Jennifer Mbatiany lauded governor Lusaka for living true to his pre- election pledge to the Sabaot community.
“We want to thank you because you have done what you promised to this region,” Said Lusaka.
She said their pair was ready to deliver all their promises to the people of Bungoma urging those spreading propaganda to stop saying the time for politics was over.
“Support the leaders who were elected and give them time to deliver,” Mbatiany said.
