Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti Flaggs Off 10 Tilling Tractors
Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti on Friday flagged off 10 tilling tractors to plough land for Machakos County residents before the onset of the short rains.
She says the ploughing Program is part of my extensive agricultural initiative to ensure food security in Machakos County in line with my clarion call, ‘Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni’.
“Other Interventions that we have invested in as a County government include providing subsidized fertilizers and providing quality extension services to the farmers,” she says.
She says this is a strategic program that seeks to alleviate hunger, eradicate poverty and empower locals especially the orphans and other less privileged members of the society.
“The success of the ‘Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni’ ploughing program will make Machakos County a true testament that with proper planning, food security can be realized even in the most arid and semi arid regions where rain patterns are unpredictable,”
