Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital Sees Surge in Deliveries Since Launch
Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital in Kiplombe Ward has reported over 1,000 normal deliveries and 50 cesarean sections since its opening in June 2024. This impressive milestone was highlighted during a recent visit by Health Services Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Mlongo.
Dr. Mlongo emphasized the importance of enrolling expectant mothers in the government’s healthcare system, particularly the Social Health Assurance (SHA) program. “The government is committed to ensuring that every mother has access to quality healthcare. Enrolling in SHA allows mothers to benefit from essential services that support both their health and that of their newborns,” she stated.
During her visit, the Cabinet Secretary underscored the significance of healthcare infrastructure investments, like Mama Rachel Hospital, in achieving universal health coverage. She urged community leaders and health workers to promote available services and raise awareness about maternal health.
Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii praised the hospital staff for their hard work and dedication, acknowledging the facility’s crucial role in delivering quality healthcare to mothers and infants. “This achievement is not just a number; it represents hope and the promise of a healthier future for our community,” he remarked. “The delivery of safe and healthy babies is a testament to the commitment of our healthcare providers.”
The visit also included a tour of the facility, where Dr. Mlongo and Dr. Bii interacted with new mothers and healthcare providers, expressing gratitude for the hospital’s positive impact on maternal and child health in the region.
