Moiben Member of Parliament Prof Phylis Bartoo has launched the Mama na Elimu Program.
She says the program aims at cushioning parents of pure Day Schools who find it difficult to pay school fees.

“Today I have officially launched the Mama na Elimu Program, it is a lunch program that will see all students from all Pure Day schools within our Constituency benefit from free lunch. They will get free lunch from Monday to Saturday 6 days a week to retain them in school,” said the Moiben Member of parliament.

Prof Bartoo says the challenges of school fees have hindered many students from humble backgrounds from achieving their dreams.

“This is the reason why through my program Mama na Elimu, I seek to address this issue which affects the majority of our parents, especially in our day schools,” she added.

She noted that to cater to other needs, a student will only need to pay Sh 5,000 annually instead of the Ksh 12, 000 charged per year. This program will guarantee a 100% primary to secondary transition.

“Access to quality education empowers individuals to reach their full potential, It also brings significant economic returns for a country and helps societies to achieve lasting peace and sustainable development,” she added.

“We are grateful to the area MP this program is going to assist teachers and sustain learners in school which will improve performance and concentration in class,” said Moses Kipruto St Joseph’s Kapnasu principal.
