Moiben MP Prof. Phylis Bartoo Provides Update on Dam Projects
Moiben MP Prof. Phylis Bartoo, accompanied by National Irrigation Authority (NIA) Chairman Engineer Gilbert Maluki, CEO Engineer Charles Muasya, and the NIA board, has announced significant progress on two vital water infrastructure projects. During a recent tour, Bartoo confirmed that the desilting of the Chepchobit Multipurpose Dam and Sugutek Dam in Sergoit is now 85% complete.
These projects are set to greatly enhance water access for over 1,000 households in the region. Once completed, the dams will provide a reliable source of clean water for both irrigation and domestic use, marking a significant step forward in the area’s agricultural development.
Prof. Bartoo emphasized the importance of these advancements, encouraging local youth to explore agricultural business opportunities as the region transitions from traditional rain-fed agriculture to more sustainable practices. She highlighted that the enhanced water supply will support modern farming techniques and boost local economic prospects.
The ongoing projects reflect a broader commitment to improving infrastructure and supporting agricultural development in the Moiben constituency.
