Moiben MP Supporters Protest after IEBC gazetted MP Tiren’s name as MCA aspirant
Supporters of Moiben MP Sila Tiren on Tuesday went on the streets of Eldoret protesting after after IEBC gazetted his name as a ward rep aspirant in Moiben.
Speaking to the press they said the move is uncalled for and ill- intended meant to deny them a chance to reelect their MP.
Tiren has served as Moiben member of parliament for over ten years and he will be defending his seat using an independent party ticket but IEBCE had gazzeted him as aspirant for the Moiben ward seat.
“We are disappointed and shocked with IEBC how can they list our MP as vying for an MCA seat, this is redyculass and uncalled for they should rectify the mistake with immediate effect,” said Julius Korir while speaking to the press.
“We urge Chebukati to we want to hear his name rectified and put in the category of those ,by 1pm this mistake should have been corrected and withot Tiren there will be no election in Moiben,” added Mike Otieno.
They asked IEBC to ensure that the MP is property gazetted as a parliamentary aspirant and not as a ward representative.
Tiren is vying against the UDA nominee for the area Professor Phyllis Bartoo and former MP Joseph Lagat who is also vying as an independent aspirant.
The MP who is also Chairman of the parliamentary committee on agriculture confirmed that he was at the IEBC seeking to have the problem rectified.
“I hope the matter is rectified urgently before time runs out. We will go to court to stop the elections in Moiben if the mistake was not rectified by the IEBC “, Tiren said.
