More Than 80 Percent of Students Have Joined Form One-Uasin Gishu CDE
More than 80 percent of students have transited to form one in Uasin Gishu County.
According to Uasin Gishu Director of Education Muriuki Harrison, most students have joined form one.
“As I am talking more than 80 percent of students who sat for their KCPE last year have joined form one and we are expecting that in the next one week or so there will be 100 percent turnout,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.
“I also call upon parents not to use children who sat for the KCPE as cash cows but instead allow them to join form one, any parent who will deny his or her child the right to education will face the full force of the law. We are engaging with the county commissioner, to move from village to village in a bid to ensure all pupils attend junior secondary school, despite the financial status,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.
He further said that over 90 percent of pupils in the County have joined junior secondary school.
“We expected 21,619 pupils in public junior secondary schools and 21,840 a number more than expected got admitted, however in private junior secondary schools only 1000 students were left out”, said the director
He warned school heads against sending students home for fees saying the school heads should instead sit down and discuss with parents how they will pay fees.
“Concerning fees payment, we have asked school heads not to send students home for fees but instead call parents to have discussions and agree on when and how they will pay the fees. Those parents who don’t have money can bring goats, firewood, or anything he has which a teacher can take and put into the student’s fee,” said the Uasin Gishu Director of Education.
