MTRH Conducts Its First Pioneer Microvascular Nerve Transfer Surgery
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital has conducted its first pioneer Microvascular Nerve Transfer Surgery.
Accrording to the hospital CEO Dr Wilson Aruasa the surgery is one of its kind in East Africa region.
“Congratulations to our Hand Surgery team for the pioneer Microvascular Nerve Transfer Surgery done at Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital(MTRH) Majaliwa Theatres. The Pentero Neuro Microscope (only one of its kind in the East African region) was deployed accordingly,” sais the MTRH CEO.
He says the male patient who had Right Brachial Plexus Injury is doing well after surgery.
“The team was led by Dr P. Mwangi ( Orthopedic Surgeon MTRH), Dr Borschel G (Chief of Hand Surgery -Riley Children’s Hospital Indiana, USA), Dr J. Look (Resident Hand Surgeon -Indiana University) and Dr Vadgama Harsh (Orthopedic Surgeon MTRH). Anesthetist – Ebby Lagat, Scrub Nurse Kevin Koech and Circulating Nurse Isaiah Sawe,” he added.
