Muget Primary School has Enough JSS Teachers-Uasin Gishu CDE
Uasin Gishu Director of Education has refuted claims that Muget Primary School in Moiben Uasin Gishu County lacks Junior Secondary School Teachers.
This comes after angry parents stormed the public school and locked all the classrooms over what they said was the lack of teachers for junior secondary school pupils.
The irate parents accused the Ministry of Education at both county and national government levels, of neglecting their children saying only two junior secondary school teachers were posted to teach 45 pupils.
According to Uasin Gishu Director of Education Khaliff Isaac Hassan, all is in order and learning is going on.
“We visited the school together with a team of National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) and section TSC officers and all the classes beginning from class 1 to 8 including the single JSS were operational,” said the County Director.
He noted that a total of 8 teachers work in the school where 7 are employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), 1 teacher is paid by the Board Of Management (BOM), and 2 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers are properly trained through Teachers Service Commission and the Central Mathematics Science and Technology Education in Africa (CMASTEA).
Hassan further said that the school is now under the leadership of the deputy head teacher who has been instructed to ensure students attend science practicals in the neighboring Secondary school due to the ongoing renovation of infrastructure.
“Moiben area Member of Parliament Pylis Bartoo has sent her assistant who went around the school and inspected the ongoing renovation of infrastructure that was initially down, “added Hassan.
Hassan however, urged the media to report objectively through their various channels when holding Public officers into account.
“We request journalists to visit our offices and carry facts to avoid peddling wrong information, “added the County Director of Education.
