“We are now open for all those who want to donate something to the less fortunate during this month of Ramadan, any little food, rice, cooking oil, will be accepted and will give a family something to smile about,” said the North Rift Council of Imams and Muslim Preachers of Kenya.

“Last three Ramadan celebrations we had coronavirus pandemic and because Ramadan is around the corner and there are things which we usually use which include Unga, cooking oil, rice, tende among others. We are calling upon all well-wishers to come out in large numbers and help the less fortunate,” he said.
He said they will collect foodstuffs which include rice, beans, tende, and biscuits which will be shared during the period.
“We are also calling on our abled president Uhuru Kenyatta to set a budget for the same which will help the poor who cannot even afford a single meal a day since it is hard for a Muslim to fast without food,” he urged.
“The government should come with measures of reducing taxes for essential goods such as cooking oil, Unga , milk since the current price is very high and cannot be afforded by the common man,” he said.
