NCCK Urges Media to Report Objectively
The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has urged journalists to be objective in their report
to cultivate peaceful coexistence.
Speaking during a media Workshop organized by NCCK, Uasin Gishu Chairman Solomon Chelal said through objective reporting peace will prevail in the Country.
The main aim of the engagement was to involve the media in uniting the County and the Country at large.
to ensure that there is peace as the Country heads to the 2027 elections.
“As NCCK we decided to engage the Media because thye are the people who can burn or save the Country through their writing and reporting thus endangering peaceful coexistence. We were influencing them to make sure that they give information that unites rather than divides the Nation,” said Chelal while speaking to the press.
He called on the media to support their peace mission by not giving out negative information as the church is advocating for peaceful coexistence.
The Uasin Gishu NCCK Chairman further said that they have been sponsored by Unwomen to implement Wadada wa power project to ensure that women are involved in decision-making in the community and to also ensure that they have a voice in ensuring that peace prevails.
“If women are empowered and involved in decision making we will achieve our goals since they play a big role in the society. Our aim is to ensure that women are also allowed to sit on the table with their male counterparts while decisions are being made,” he said.
