NCIC Commissioner Dorcas Kedogo Warns Politicians Dividing Kenyans Basing on Their Political or Tribal Affiliations Ahead of the August Polls

National Cohesion and Integration Commission of Kenya (NCIC) Commissioner Dorcas Kedogo Politicians has warned politicians against dividing Kenyans based on their political and tribal affiliations during this electioneering period.

Speaking in Eldoret town after flagging off a program of sensitizing the public on the importance of peace in Uasin Gishu County, Kedogo sid said politicians should instead be peace ambassadors.
Uasin Gishu County was listed among the hotspot areas that are likely to experience violence after the election by NCIC.

“I want to call upon politicians across the Country to be peace ambassadors and at all costs should refrain from dividing Kenyans based on tribal and political affiliations since politics will come. Let us be peace ambassadors since if we burn Kenya we will not have a spare Country,” said Kedogo.
The team which has been in Uasin Gishu for a week has had meetings with journalists, police youths, women, and community elders in a move to sensitize them on the importance of peace during the electioneering period.

“Politicians will be elected by people and if you threatened and scare them who will vote for you and if they flee away you will not get votes, therefore let us be peace ambassadors before, during, and after the August polls since politics is a one-day affair,”

The Commission has been working with the office of the County Commissioner where the commissioner Stephen Kihara has assured residents of their security during the August polls and no cause of alarm.

She said during the peace sensitization they talked to residents who assured them to maintain peace and that they will not allow the politics of the day to divide them based on their political and tribal affiliations.

“We are sure that this time round no one will carry his luggage going home in the name of an election since they have assured as that thye will be on the forefront of preaching peace and ensure we have ‘elections Bila Noma’,” she added.
