New Avocado Aggregation Center and Pack House in Nandi Hills to boost Value addition and Export of High-Value Crops
The County Government of Nandi PLAN to ensure that Nandi Avocado Aggregation center and Pack House can handle Avocado for export and value addition of Avocado for both local and international markets, is well on track and scheduled for completion soon. Furthermore, the pack house has been designed to accommodate other horticultural crops during the avocado off-season.
This facility will play a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of avocado farming and other high-value crops for export. Once the avocados are received at the pack house, Avocado Farmers in Nandi will undertake cleaning, post-harvest treatments, sorting, weighing, and cooling before shipping, thereby maintaining our reputation in the international markets.
Earlier today, the CECM for Agriculture and Cooperative Development Dr. Kiplimo Araap Lagat visited the construction site of the Nandi Avocado Farmers Cooperative Society Packhouse in Lolduga, Lessos Ward, Nandi Hills Sub-County, to inspect the ongoing progress.
The construction work of the facility, which has a capacity to process and store 22 tonnes of avocado, is well on course and scheduled for completion in June this year. The County Government of Nandi through the able leadership of H.E Governor Stephen Sang is implementing this project with significant support from the NARIGP project.
